About Loy Happenings
Hello cousins!!
Although I still have the first Loy blog up at Blogspot, which is open to all Loy researchers, I decided to begin this one just for those connected to the Martin Loy (to America 1741) family.
Besides Martin’s descendants, this is also open to descendants of Anna Maria (Loy) Sharp (a/k/a Annie Maria/Anna Marie). Although some researchers list her as a daughter of Martin, I am quite sure she was a sister. First, her children are in same generation as Martin’s children. Second, in Genevieve Peters’ book Know Your Relatives, Noah Loy stated that Martin Loy “had a brother-in-law named Sharpe.”
There was definitely a relationship somewhere, as Vetta (Loy) Johnson’s father, George Tate Loy had boyhood memories of meeting Anna Maria’s descendants in MO. This was when George’s father William Loy, son of George and Catherine (Tillman) Loy, went to Platte Co., MO (where they’re in 1850 census) before venturing on to Page Co., IA. It was Vetta who, in an old letter, trying to explain the unknown relationship , guessed that Anna Maria was Martin’s daughter Mary. (However, other early research had Mary married to a George Foust.)
Unlike Blogspot blog, this blog is on my own LoyHistory.com server. Here, I have more control over its features and it will have a slightly different “feel” than the other blog. A plus for this is you won’t have to register in order to post. However, to ensure you’re not a spam robot, but a live person, you will need to enter a viewable code first.
