A Word From Our Sponsor…
I don’t think any of us hasn’t been affected by the economy lately. Expansion I’ve wanted for the LoyHistory site has been delayed by this as well. Two years ago I switched to annual-fee hosting so I could include online databases, which free hosting sites don’t permit.
About all web sites have advertising. Since LoyHistory.com came to its own domain, it’s been free from ad clutter. To move ahead with the online database and defray hosting costs, advertising will be necessary.
I dislike popup ads and flashing ad banners while trying to navigate genealogy sites. So I won’t subject anyone to that. Ads will be gathered on one page. But they’re good ads: I’ve patronized all of them. I originally intended to have survey site ads, but decided to add my favorite online stores, too. Stores give more incentives and maybe you guys might want to shop while you’re here anyway.
This will be a growing list, as several of my affiliate applications still need approved before I can add them to the site.
WHO DOESN’T LIKE FREE STUFF?
This year I found a new pasttime that helps stretch my $$. Some tasks involve online surveys, or routine tasks, like searching web or points/rebates for online shopping. Since I began participating, these incentives have supplied me with groceries through Amazon and Target, given several magazine subscriptions and free books, put several $$ into my Paypal account, besides maxing RAM on my 6 year old laptop and paying for my new Nook Color, after other web discounts.
These survey/points places are good at not spamming/not selling email addresses. However some not-just-survey places *will* give extra points to those that opt-in their advertisers’ lists. Some of those advertisers are good, but some, such as Quality Health, promise free samples but tend to harvest email addresses instead. For that reason, I suggest separate email addresses for surveys and for opting-in lists. I have free disposible spam-protection email accounts through Soodonims.com, which are quite handy. (No, I don’t get commission from them!)
Naturally, using these ad links through LoyHistory.com will give me referral points, so we both get perks for your joining.
